The East London Alliance Church (“ELAC”) has been meeting together for over twelve years. It was officially approved as a registered charity by the UK government’s Charity Commission on 13 June 2024, and was entered onto the Register of Charities (Registered Charity Number 1208660). ELAC is affiliated with the Chinese Alliance Churches Union (UK). Currently, the average attendance for Sunday worship services is over fifty people. The weekly children’s Sunday school has about twenty students. In March 2024, a resolution was passed at the first General Meeting to set up the ELAC Trustee Board, comprising Rev. Tai Ming PANG and seven elected Trustees, responsible for planning and developing church ministries.
Regular meetings include: monthly joint Holy Communion Sunday worship in Mandarin/Cantonese on the first Sunday of each month (conducted in Mandarin with Cantonese translation during the sermon); separate Sunday services for the rest of the month (Mandarin at 14:00, Cantonese at 15:30); children’s Sunday school (held during the joint worship or Mandarin worship); weekly Mandarin sisters’ Bible study; and monthly Cantonese sisters’ and brothers’ groups for thematic sharing and Bible study.
Additionally, health seminars, summer Bible classes, retreats, Christmas and Chinese New Year celebrations, and joint Good Friday services with the Deptford Methodist Church are held regularly. ELAC also offers annual baptism classes to prepare those who wish to be baptized and join ELAC to receive baptism.
